Community Science Projects

While you are having fun learning in a group or gifting yourself some needed retreat time, you can also be meaningfully contributing to science.

Everyone and anyone can participate in enjoyable projects on almost any topic you want.  There are thousands of existing community science projects we can fit to your interests or we can create your own project.

I often lead eBird outings where we ID and count as many birds as we can in a particular area, including places special to you like your backyard, school grounds, HOA, or ranch pastures.  Or perhaps you want to create an inventory of some or all the plants and animals in a place special to you or your group.

All you need is your curiosity, and a couple of devices like phones or iPads, to access the community science apps.  The project can be as simple or ambitious as you have interest.  The project could be an hour  or set up to continue for years.  You can have kids be scientists along with the group or we can be silent and focused searching for a rare species.
